The theme of the Turkish Pavilion was inspired by one of the first known settlements in the world, Çatalhöyük, which is currently located in the centre of Anatolia.
The exterior design of our pavilion has been realized in consideration with the wall frescos found at a house in Çatalhöyük which is the earliest known center of population in the whole world belonging to the Neolithic Age. The fresco on the wall represents the volcanic mountain, Hasandağ, and the houses in Çatalhöyük. It depicts the plan or the appearance of the world’s first center of population. The façade has been interpreted as impressed by the said fresco. It is also interesting to see how that Neolithic-age fresco is in compliance with today’s architectural trends. read more
